Syriac institutions and the Syriac Union Party in Tirbe Spiye district commemorated the painful Seyfo massacres and the massacres committed by the Turkish occupation against the Syriac, Assyrian and Chaldean people, as well as the Armenians, by giving a lecture and a television show, in the hall of the Syriac Union Party office in Tirbe Spiye district.

The remembrance began with a minute of silence for the souls of the martyrs, after which member of the Syriac Cultural Society, Eshoa Kourieh, gave a lecture in which he explained that the Ottoman occupation colonized the region for several centuries, and during these centuries it committed the most hideous and heinous crimes against humanity.

He noted, "The Ottoman occupation tried to obliterate the identity of the authentic peoples of the region and committed major massacres against the Syriac, Armenian, Assyrian and Chaldean people. The international community should hold Turkey accountable and recognize these massacres as a war crime and genocide against our people."

He stressed, "Turkey proceed with its policy, and today it is fighting the components of the region, including Kurds, Arabs, and Syriacs, and it will repeat the Seyfo massacres unless the international community does its duty and puts an end to the violations of the Turkish occupation."

Yeshua Kourieh explained during the lecture that the Syriac people today have found their true identity through the Autonomous Administration and worked on their identity and culture and the establishment of military forces to preserve their existence and protect it from external aggression.

Then the remembrance concluded with a TV show about the Seyfo massacres, and lighting candles in commemoration of the martyrs.
