Mass meeting in Manbij to discuss recent events in the city

This meeting was attended by dozens of families, clans’ notables, intellectuals, clerics and representatives of the components in the city of Manbij, in the Legislative Council Hall in the Democratic Civil Administration building.

The meeting began with standing for a minute of silence, and then the co-chair of the Legislative Council in Manbij, Muhammad Ali al-Abbo, spoke about the recent events that took place in Manbij, saying: “In the beginning, some people came out with legitimate demands and these demands were taken and the gatherings were broken up in a peaceful and elegant manner, and later some frivolous hands began distorting these protests and demands.”

For his part, the administrator of the Internal Security Forces, Raed Al-Ahmad, said: "After the liberation of the city of Manbij from ISIS mercenaries, a civil administration was formed in it from the people of the city with all its revolutionary legitimacy created against terrorism and gave peoples the right to determine their fate and to manage themselves, but this legitimacy did not satisfy the other parties and mobilized the people against the administration by spreading extremist ideas.”

On behalf of religious sheikhs, Ayman Muhammad gave a speech, in which he said: "Our responsibility towards the country differs in demands and expresses demands, and we are with the legitimate demands regulated by the laws of this country, and we are not with the demands that lead the country to ruin and destruction and involve other agendas."

Then the members of the meeting office and the audience held discussions about the recent events that took place in the city and about the demands for which the people came out, and the attendees expressed their satisfaction with the response of the civil administration and the security forces to the people’s demands, calming the situation and not allowing the situation to turn into a crisis.

In turn, the court affirmed that the people's demands are just and legitimate, and the administration will meet the people's demands within the capabilities of the administration in Manbij.
