On the night of April 24, Turkey began launching large-scale attacks on the regions of Matina, Avashin and Zab, in the Medya defensive zones, taking advantage of the American silence and monitoring it for financial rewards in exchange for information on three leaders of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement.

Michael Rubin, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) and a former Pentagon official, said that US policy is slow to change and confusing.

In a special statement to ANHA agency, Rubin confirmed that most of the American officials working on issues related to Turkey and the Kurds are relatively new to the issue.

He added, "They receive information that is more than a quarter of a century old about the Kurds and the PKK and do not search for its accuracy."

Basically, he explained, "almost everything US officials know about the PKK is the result of a decades-long Turkish disinformation campaign."

In conclusion, he affirmed that changing this view "requires a serious and professional pressure campaign to change the classification of terrorism so that the policy of the United States can be changed."
