An Iraqi court orders execution 4 young Yazidis.. Şengal Autonomous Administration calls for uprising

The Mosul Court sentenced 4 young Yazidis from Şengal to death, and in this context, the Democratic Autonomous Administration Board in Şengal described this decision as a political decision and called on public opinion and the people to rise up, go out to the squares, and take a stance against injustice against the members of the Yazidi community.

After the killing of two young men from the Al-Shammar clan on the road between Tal Aziz and Şengal on September 16, 2020, Iraqi security forces arrested, following the incident, on the same day, four young Yazidis under the age of twenty were arrested on charges of killing the two young men.

On Wednesday, April 21, the Mosul court issued a death sentence against the four Yazidi youths, but the implementation of the court’s decision requires that Iraqi President Barham Salih approve it, and if he does not agree, the decision will not be implemented.

In this context, the Autonomous Administration Board of Şengal issued a statement to the public opinion, in which described the execution decision as a political decision. “The Iraqi government imposes and implements the law on the Yazidi community only, as thousands of ISIS mercenaries have been arrested, and despite the presence of sufficient evidence that they have a hand in the Yazidi blood, but no decision has been taken to execute them yet. "

Through the statement, the council called on the people to take to the streets to rise up against this injustice against the youth of the Yazidi community, adding, "If we remain silent in front of them, today, others will be executed under various pretexts, and we consider this step by the government to be a new genocide against the Yazidi community."
