Turkey officially withdrew from the Istanbul Agreement on March 20th by a decision of Turkish President Erdogan, and in this regard, the Kongra Star Coordination issued a statement to the public opinion.

The beginning of its text read: "Over the years, the fascist Turkish state has not stopped its wars and attacks on our people, institutions and parties in Northern Kurdistan and throughout Kurdistan.""

Legalization

It added, "The Turkish state legitimizes its attacks and inhumane crimes to gain European opinion by preventing the meeting with Leader Abdullah Ocalan, incursion into Syrian territory and interfering in Libya, in addition to the use of chemical weapons during its attack on Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî, the capture of the fighter in the Women Protection Units Çîçek Kobane from the Syrian land and sentencing her to life. All of them are wars against humanity"

It added that "no human rights organization in the world legalizes these crimes, especially those committed by the Turkish state against the people and women of Turkey and Bakur Kurdistan. Since 2015, parliamentarians, politicians and co-chairs of municipalities have been subjected to torture and deprivation of their most basic rights in life."

Intimidation

Stressing that "in the last stage and due to the Turkish state's fear of increasing its internal contradictions and problems, and to prevent democracy, pluralism from becoming a model, it is working to blur freedom by arresting the co-chairs of municipalities, politicians and activists. This means that the strength of the Turkish state in the solution is through dialogue and discussion are not enough, and it does not have ideas, methods, and alternatives to co-existence and pluralism, and its authority cannot allow the realization of a free life."

Repeal Law 6284

The statement stressed that Turkey "has withdrawn from the Istanbul Convention to legitimate the capture and detention of women in Northern Kurdistan and Turkey, and it seeks to abolish Law No. 6284 combating violence against women and the family, which together with the Istanbul Convention constitutes a guarantee for the protection of women's rights."

The statement went on to say, "In this way, women are arrested on a daily basis, and on April 12th, 26 women were arrested without knowing the charges against them, the Rose Society was also raided, and some members and mothers of peace were arrested."

Restoration of Ottoman

It continued, "These brutal practices are evident by the abolition of laws that protect the rights of women and the family. This means that the Turkish state uses all kinds of brutal violence to protect the Ottoman Empire."

Adding that the Turkish state "considers on this basis that torture in all its forms and types is one of its primary missions to obstruct the democratic project and gender equality because they know that the project in which women are a successful foundation no one is subjected to injustice, on the basis of achieving equality, and not allowing dictatorships to recur their history, ensuring a safe life for all societies."

International conference

The Kongra Star called on "all human rights, women’s and international organizations to intervene urgently in Turkey’s situation, and to investigate the issue of arbitrary detention of parliamentarians, mayors, and people yearning for freedom. We also call on all women's organizations to stop injustice against women with one voice and stance," stressing to escalate women's struggle for the democratic nation project in north eastern Syria.

The Kongra Star concluded its statement calling on all women in Kurdistan to play their primary role in achieving an international conference, so that we would be a voice and a force to protect all women."
