The areas of the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria are facing a fierce attack of the Corona virus, and earlier, the Health Body of the Autonomous Administration warned during a press conference of an imminent humanitarian disaster due to the outbreak of the Corona virus in the region, stressing that the region is suffering a fierce attack of the third wave of the virus.

In this context, Bahaa Hebo, the Administrative Director of the Jiyan Covid-19 Center in Qamishlo city, said: "The center, with its medical staff, is in a state of complete alert to receive those infected with the virus, who are transported by ambulances of the Kurdish Red Crescent, or who are transported to the center by their families."

Hebo explained: "38 people infected with the virus are now receiving the necessary health care at the center, including 3 critical cases, while the others are recovering."

Virus complications

Regarding the symptoms that afflict the patient, Hebo pointed out: "Some of them suffer from shortness of breath and high body temperature, while others complain of physical pain, accompanied by intestinal inflammation, diarrhea and kidney pain, and what kills the infected is the low level of oxygen in the blood, which causes a fatal stroke."

Bahaa Hebo explained: "In the absence of a stable treatment for the virus at the present time, introducing an adequate amount of oxygen into the lungs while the immune system is combating the virus is considered the most important element in caring for patients suffering from acute infection with corona, in addition to giving them some antibiotics."

Hebo emphasized, "The third wave of the Corona epidemic is the most dangerous and fastest spreading of the waves that preceded it, and it affects all age groups, while it poses a threat to the older group, that is, those aged 45 years and over."

Hebo said, "The patient is discharged from the center, according to the difference in the degree of the virus's impact on the infected person. Critical cases need a longer time to stay under health care."

High mortality rate

Hebo explained, "The death rate has increased in the recent period, as their daily number reaches approximately 3 to 6 deaths, while large numbers are cured."

At the end of his speech, Bahaa Hebo, the Administrative Director of the Jiyan Covid-19 Center in Qamishlo city appealed to the World Health Organization to secure vaccines for the areas of north and east Syria in order to avoid the impending humanitarian catastrophe. He called on families to stay away from gatherings and to adhere to the necessary preventive measures, such as wearing a mask and gloves.

It is worth mentioning that the Jiyan Covid-19 Center has been in service since December 20th last year, and has 76 beds for the infected with Corona virus, and contributes to providing complete health care to the infected, free of charge.
