Ain Issa people: International silence gives green light to Turkey to annex more Syrian territories

Citizens from Ain Issa district indicated that the international silence allowed Turkey to establish artificial borders in the countryside of Ain Issa district, with the aim of carving out and annexing the Syrian lands.

The people’s talk came in the context of interviews ANHA conducted with them commenting on the Turkish occupation state’s erecting berms and digging trenches along the international road in the areas it occupies from the countryside of Ain Issa, in preparation for annexing them to Turkey, as it did in other regions of Syria.

Citizen Muhammad Majed, a resident of Ain Issa district, said that the construction of this wall is a blatant assault on Syrian lands, indicating that Turkish occupation’s goal is to annex the lands occupied in the countryside of Girê Spî district to its state, as in Iskenderun and Afrin districts.

Moreover, after its blatant aggression against the regions of northern and eastern Syria on October 9, 2019, Turkey occupied the cities of Serêkaniyê / Ras al-Ain and Girê Spi / Tal Abyad and large parts of their countryside.

The Turkish state has recently erected artificial borders by raising berms and digging trenches along the M4 international road to connect its 5 occupation bases, which it has built consecutively throughout the period of its recent escalation on Ain Issa district since the beginning of November of last year.

In a related context, the citizen, Berivan Saleh, said that it is the silence of the international community and the Russian guarantor that has given Turkey the green light to proceed with its aggressive policies against the Syrian territories, especially the occupied ones.

The Turkish state set up its artificial borders opposite to six villages related to Ain Issa district: Al-Jahbel, Mushayrifa, Saida, Al-Maalik, Al-Hoshan, and Al-Khaldiya, where Russia has established joint points with the regime to monitor the Turkish encroachments on them.

Both Muhammad and Berivan called on the international community to break their silence about Turkish violations and crimes in the Syrian regions, and to pressure them to curb them from carving out more Syrian lands.
