"We are ready to take the necessary steps to return to commitment to the joint action plan (the nuclear deal), including the lifting of sanctions that are inconsistent with the plan," Price told reporters. Without revealing further information.

Washington withdrew from the nuclear deal during the era of former President Donald Trump, and re-imposed harsh sanctions on Tehran, which in return has backed away from adhering to many of the terms of the agreement.

The new US President, Joe Biden, expressed his intention to return to the agreement, but on the condition that Tehran return to its commitments, while the latter affirms the priority of lifting sanctions.

Washington had sent a positive signal prior to the talks, and expressed through its envoy, Robert Malle, the possibility of its openness to lifting sanctions and returning to the agreement, comments that Ali Rabiei, the Iranian government spokesman, described as "promising."
