Cannabis turns Afrin into another Afghanistan

Local sources told ANHA that Turkish Occupation Forces and the affiliated mercenary groups of the so-called Syrian National Army are seeding cannabis on the farms of Afrinians more notably in Raco District.

Indigenous Afrinians were expelled from the Canton by the Turkish Occupation Forces and the so-called mercenary groups of the Syrian National Army taking possession of their lands and changing the demography in the region in addition to the cutting down of thousands of trees. . 

Sources noted that lands are be seeded with cannabis on the lands in the Raco District, and that seeding is being supervised by Ahrar al-Sham, Sultan Murad Brigade, Ahrar al-Sharqiye and the Sham Front'', and that vast territories in Midan Ikbes, Xerab Siluk, Sorka, in the Raco District in the occupied Afrin Canton.

The New York Review of Books released an article by Elizabeth Tsurkov on an al-Mu'tasim Brigade mercenary stationed in Afrin saying that some elements are simply addictive to drugs and criminals.
