Today, the Families of the Assyrian Martyrs Foundation and the Assyrian Guard Council of Khabur organized a ceremony to commemorate the martyrs who defended their areas along with the Peoples' and women Protection Units (YPG, YPJ) in the villages of Tal Tamer during the ISIS attack in 2015.

Dozens of people and a number of councilors attended the memorial service.

The people headed to the Assyrian Martyrs Shrine in the village of Tal Shannan, east of Tal Tamr.

Then, the administrator of the Families of the Assyrian Martyrs Foundation, Jamila Kaku, gave a speech in which she said: “The 22nd of February 2015 was the last night of the Assyrian presence on the banks of the Khabur before the sun shone as the hearts of those invading our land to shed blood.”

And Jamila added, "It was a nightmare, as they shed the blood of our children, kidnapped dozens of our people, and we suffered from all kinds of displacement at the hands of the enemies of humanity."

At the end of her speech, Jamila pardoned all the martyrs who sacrificed their most precious things for the sake of preserving the soil of Khabur.

Then the memorial ceremony ended with the lighting of candles on the shrines of the martyrs.
