Politicians in Rojava conditioned on the Kurdish National Council's recognition of Turkey as an occupation state to advance the course of the Kurdish National Unity talks.

Rojava politicians stated that success of the unity initiative regarding for the NKC is acknowledging the Turkish state as occupation state.

The head of the Kurdistan Liberal Union, Farhad Tilo, pointed that "the main reason behind the failure of the unity initiatives is the partisan interest over the Kurdish people; most of all, most political parties are not empowered to take their decisions."  

Tilo identified the party that hinders the unity, saying, "The Kurdish National Council plays key role in failing these kinds of initiatives, every time, it come out with new conditions."

The KNC parties and the Council itself pre-empted the document signed between the Kurdish parties on May 14, 2011 is the " the Initiative of the Kurdish National Movement Parties", the Kurdish Supreme Board in 2012, and after withdrawing from the "Interim Administration Project for Kurdish and Joint Areas" in 2013. And failing the Kurdish political authority in 2014.

'Unity needs real political goodwill'

Tilo referred to the recent unity initiative launched by the Commander in Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, in October 2019, under American mediation, which goes on very slowly due to the KNC's new and unlimited conditions, and he said: "In the last initiative they told us:" The Americans, you always take us back to the first step. "  

He pointed out: "If there is a serious matter, it can be solved through dialogue," and on the condition of showing a goodwill." He also said: "It is regrettable that the KNC always puts the screws."

“So far, the KNC does not view the Turkish state occupation of Afrin, Girê Spî, and Serêkaniyê an occupation state, nor does it recognize the demographic change and massacres committed by the Turkish occupation army. This poses a great challenge to the Kurdish Cause.” He continued: “The Council dictates the same way as the Syrian National Coalition does.

'The Turkey is an occupation state'

Farhad Othman, a member of the Kurdish Progressive Democratic Party in Syria, shares Tilo's opinion that Kurdish political parties should abandon their personal interests for the benefit of the Kurdish people. In it, the enemy try to torpedo the Kurds' gains. "

'Turkey's strategy is based on the annihilation of the Kurds'

For her part, political activist Layla Siwar pointed that "the Turkish occupation state has proven that its existence is based on the extermination of the Kurds, that is why the Kurdish parties must know this truth well."

She stressed the need for all Kurdish parties in Rojava to recognize Turkey as an occupying state, and said: "If it is not agreed that it is an occupation state, then this means giving up the occupied areas under Turkey."

She addressed the question to the parties that do not consider the Turkish occupation state an occupying state, and claim to work for the Kurdish cause, and said: "How can we serve the Kurdish cause unless we see Turkey as an occupying state?"

'Working for national unity requires a patriotic spirit'

Politician Hevin Rasheed said: "The Kurdish people always serve the others, and now for the first time they serve their cause, and this is an achievement in itself."

She stressed the need for the KNC to abandon its policies of hindering the talks, and said: “From the first day it fought the Autonomous Administration under the enemy's orders, which formed a lack of confidence in these parties.”

"If the Kurdish National Council must show the Kurdish patriotic spirit, and give up its unfounded arguments." Hevin Rashid noted.
