Mother language dialogue forum kicks off in Qamishlo

Under '' Mother Language is A Universal Human Right'', and marking the International Mother Language Day, a dialogue forum is being organized by the Education Body of North Eastern Syria.

The activity that is being held at the Afrin Hall in the city of Qamishlo has been kicked off just a while ago, with the participation of representatives of Syria's Democratic Council, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, civil society associations, local and international bodies as well as intellectuals and lawyers.

Two points are on the agenda, the first, the right to the mother tongue in regard to regional and international laws, and the second, the multi-language and culture system adopted in teaching in North Eastern Syria.

The forum was set off by a speech delivered by co-chair of the Education Body in North Eastern Syria, Nasrine Doko, that after welcoming the presence, said '' in spite of the International Mother Language Day declaration, many peoples are still deprived of their mother tongues, and being confined to a limited number of countries'', and that '' teaching in the mother tongue has become one of the priorities adopted by the Education Body in North Eastern Syria''. .

''after 10 years of the Rojava Revolution, Kurds, Syriacs and Arabs are all taught by their languages, that are still on target by the ruling regimes in the region''.

Then the first discussion was commenced by the administrator in the Training Committee in the Qamishlo Canton, Nur al-Dine Mohamed and administrator to the Women's Committee in the Education Body in North Eastern Syria Suhair al-Hamed.
