The Gara region located deep in Başûr (Southern Kurdistan), has been witnessing a violent Turkish attack since February 10, and confronted by the HPG fighters valiantly.

In yesterday's statement, the Kurdish Communities Union (KCK) confirmed that: “Any move to occupy Gara must have been approved by the KDP. On the attack day, the PM Masrour Barzani accused the HPG and legitimized the occupiers' attack."

Although the PDK denied its participation in the attack on Gara, the representative of the Change Bloc in the Iraqi Parliament, Dr. Ghaleb Muhammad, revealed that the Turkish attack is directly and logistically backed by the PDK.

In the same context, member of the Notables Board, Hakam Khelo, denounced during a meeting “On behalf of all the components; Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, Chechens, Chaldeans and Assyrians, the Turkish attacks on the Gara region, Afrin and Serêkaniyê, even the Syrian regions such as Azaz. The Turkish occupation in Syria has brought nothing but destruction to Syria." he added.

He warned against viewing that the Turkish attack targets the HPG only, saying: “The Turkish attacks underway against freedom fighters of the Kurdish people and the peoples of the region, aim to eliminate the Kurdish people.” Since the establishment of the Turkish state in 1923, it massacred the Kurdish people and other components dozens of times." He said.

He noted that the successive Turkish regimes, "leftist, right-wing, liberal or Islamic, have always stated that they will fight any Kurdish entity in any geographical area."

'It is regrettable that the attacks are launched from Başûr Kurdistan.'

He expressed his regret attacking the Kurdish liberation movement from Başûr, saying: “It is regrettable that the underway attacks on the Gara region are being launched from Başûr Kurdistan.

He called on the people of the political forces in Başûr to support: “the gains that have been made in Kurdistan, not to be supportive of Turkey's attacks."

He affirmed that the participation of Başûr Kurdistan forces and parties within the Turkish scheme and under any pretext is condemned by all standards, and said: “This cannot be accepted, gains are not protected this way."

He pointed out that the goal of the Turkish occupation state is not to occupy the Gara region or to eliminate the HPG, but rather to eliminate the Kurdish people. Kurdistan, the PDK; the party must not forget that Turkey opposed the Başûr referendum. At that time, Turkish officials stated:" The fate of Başûr is in their hands."

He agreed with what was stated in the statement of the Kurdistan Communities Union about the Turkish attack on Gara and the participation of the PDK local forces in it.

He stressed the need to hold a Kurdish national conference soon, and said: “The Kurdish forces - in particular - in Başûr Kurdistan must work to hold a national conference and set red lines for those who deal with enemies, so that we can protect our people."

He appealed to the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and said: "There are national positions in the history of the party, and we hope it will protect those historical values and not participate in attacks against legitimate defense areas."
