Syrian politician: Turkey paves way to annex Syrian regions to its artificial entity

The Turkish occupation continues to perpetuate its occupation of the Syrian regions via the “Syrian Coalition”, and the Syrian politician, Samir Azzam, warns that “the occupation is working to Turkificate the occupied Syrian areas in preparation for their annexation to its artificial entity.”

After the Turkish occupation worked to change the demographics of the occupied areas and settled thousands of mercenaries, it imposed the Turkish currency instead of the Syrian one in the occupied areas. During the past years, dozens of reports monitored the Turkish occupation implementing the policy of Turkificating the occupied Syrian areas.

In a new step to consolidate its occupation of the Syrian regions, on February 6th, Erdogan issued a decision to open a College of Medicine and an Institute for Health Sciences, in al-Rai town in the countryside of Aleppo, northern Syria.

In this context, the Member of the Joint Presidency of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), Aldar Khalil, said in a post on Facebook: “The decree issued by Erdogan to establish so-called colleges affiliated with the University of Istanbul in the Syrian town of al-Rai is nothing but confirmation that Erdogan believes that these areas are Turkish, applying Turkish laws to them, in addition to the step of education according to the Turkish curriculum in schools in those occupied Syrian areas to proceed in cultural genocide and impose Turkish culture, as is the case in the political and military sphere.”

In his post, Khalil indicated that "this step requires vigilant thought, awareness and conscience of all Syrians who are jealous of Syria and its unity regardless of affiliation and orientation.”

A staged plan

The Syrian politician Samir Azzam said in a statement to our agency that “the opening of educational institutes and colleges in the occupied Syrian cities is part of the Turkification plan implemented by the Turkish occupation state in full swing and at all levels, starting with raising Turkish flags on official buildings, schools and hospitals, and opening land crossings unilaterally between the occupied cities and the Turkish entity.”

He explained that in addition to these crimes, “Turkey is carrying out operations to displace indigenous people from their cities and towns, settle strangers in their place and replace the Turkish currency with the Syrian one, all of this is done with the aim of annexing the occupied cities and towns to the Turkish entity at a later time, and this is not an expectation as Turkey's President Recep Erdogan, the Turkish prime minister and ministers of defense and interior have repeatedly stated that Idlib, Aleppo, Afrin and the rest of the Syrian cities in north and northeastern Syria, in addition to the cities of Tel Afar, Mosul and Kirkuk are Turkish territories under the Turkish Millî Charter, and thus the Turkish occupied districts are a prelude to annex them to their artificial entity.”

Azzam indicated that what the occupying power “Turkey” and its mercenaries are doing and implementing in the occupied Syrian areas is a violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention and the Rome Agreement, and they are taking place in the sight and silence of the international community and the United Nations.

Turkey is hostile to all Syrians, not to a specific component

The Syrian politician warned of the “catastrophe looming” on the Syrian homeland, land and people, and said: “Syrians of all sects and regions must raise their voice and resist the Turkish occupier with bullets and word to prevent a recurrence of the catastrophe of the annexation of Arkia to Cilicia in 1922 and Iskenderun in 1939.”

Azzam stressed that the Syrians should be aware that Turkey is an enemy of Syria and of all Syrians with their ethnicities and sects, and not an enemy to a Syrian component without the rest of the components.

The occupation came with the consent of Russia and Iran

Azzam indicated during his speech that Turkey would not have dared to enter its army into Jarablus, Al-Bab and Idlib, and then carry out its aggression and occupation of Afrin, Ras Al-Ain and Tel Abyad districts, committing war crimes and ethnic cleansing crimes in those districts without the consent of the parties in Astana (Russia and Iran), their trade-offs and their declared and non-declared agreements.

Syrians are fragmented

Azzam regretted the situation of the Syrians and said: “Unfortunately, the Syrians are fragmented, and in the foreseeable future they are not expected to take a collective national stance to defend their homeland and their land in the north that is threatened by Turkification and annexation by their national enemy, Turkey, and the regime and Islamist factions are deprived of their will, and they have turned into mercenaries for Russians, Iranians and Turks.”

Only SDF resists occupation

The Syrian politician, Samir Azzam, pointed out that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) stood alone in the face of the Turkish enemy and its ISIS mercenaries in “Afrin, Ras Al-Ain, and Tel Abyad,” and unfortunately, they are the only ones who resist the occupation militarily.”

The Syrian politician called on the free people and the Syrian patriots to support their brothers in the Syrian Democratic Forces in resisting the Turkish enemy “at least politically and in the media, and this is very least.”
