104 Yazidis' remains buried in Koco victims cemetery

Governmental and international teams specialized in searching for mass graves and uncovering them were able to find 18 mass graves of the people of Koco village who were killed at the hands of ISIS mercenaries on August 15, 2014, 12 days after the mercenary attack on Şengal province.

After identifying the 104 victims, a religious ceremony for Yazidis was held today in the village of Koco, attended by dozens of clerics, in which fighters from Şengal Resistance Units and the Women Units – Şengal, representatives of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Şengal , the Yazidi Freedom and Democracy Party, the Yazidi Women's Movement and representatives of civil institutions, in addition to thousands of people from Şengal province and Iraqi officials participated in the ceremony.

The remains of the victims were buried in a special cemetery held in the village under the name "Koco Victims' Cemetery."

It is worth mentioning that more than 900 people from the village were kidnapped by ISIS, 663 of them have so far been liberated, while the fate of 140 others remains unknown, including 90 Yazidi women.
