​​​​​​​'Time bombs'… Unexploded Turkish shells threaten civilians in Ain Issa

Since the 23^rd of last November, Turkey and the mercenary factions affiliated with it have been launching an aggression on the vicinity of Ain Issa district in the Euphrates region.

Within 64 days, our agency monitored the exposition of 162 sites in Ain Issa district in northern Syria to bombardment, the most important of which are the district and villages on the M4 international road.

The Turkish bombardment that hit the northern and western neighborhoods of the district resulted in 6 civilians losing their lives, and injuring 16 others, among them children and women.

Field of missiles

The Turkish aggression left large numbers of artillery and missile shells that did not explode in the streets of the district center within two months.

Tank shells and mortars are scattered in a number of houses and on the roadsides within the district, in addition to information about the spread of dozens of these shells in the villages of al-Mushairfeh, al-Jehbel and al-Maalek on the international road.

Our agency counted, in just one day, more than 11 mortars that fell on the eastern outskirts of Ain Issa district on the 9^th of January, and did not explode.

Turkey used mortars, heavy artillery, rocket launchers and tanks in its shelling of Ain Issa district.

NATO weapons used by mercenary factions in bombarding Ain Issa

Earlier, fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces found the remnants of a "TOW" missile, which did not fully explode, near the village of Maalek on the M4 international road.

It was noted that Turkish mercenaries in the occupied areas of Syria possessed weapons for NATO, in light of the attacks against the Syrian Democratic Forces, which are part of the international coalition formed against ISIS.

Victims of Turkish shells

The two children Obaid Ismail Al-Ahmad (16 years old) and Mohamed Ali Ahmad (18 years old) lost their lives, while two others were seriously injured, as a result of an artillery shell explosion of the Turkish shelling remnants at them on the 27^th of last November near Abu Surra village on the international road.

Time bombs

Riyadh Al-Khalaf, Commander-in-Chief of the Girê Spi / Tal Abyad Military Council, said in a statement to our agency that "Turkish shells rained brutally on the district," adding that "the residents are afraid of the time bombs that threaten their lives on a daily basis as the Turkish shelling continues on the area."

The vicinity of the center of strategic Ain Issa district in northern Syria on the M4 international road is witnessing a Turkish military escalation in attempts to control 3 villages east and west of the district center, at a time when the Syrian Democratic Forces announced that they prevented the Turkish-affiliated factions from reaching the international road and controlling any village.
