Detainees' families: Turkish authorities violate human rights' laws inside its jails

The detainees' families in the Turkish jails demanded from the international community to put pressure on the Turkish state to stop its brutal practices against political prisoners which violate international laws and human rights.

The political prisoners' hunger strike campaign began in the prisons of the Turkish authorities and in Bakur Kurdistan on November 27, in order to end the strict isolation imposed on the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and it continues on its 46th day.

On December 3, hunger strike activities began in the city of Kobani, in support of the strike campaign in Turkish prisons.

Mohammad Rashid was previously arrested in Turkish prisons in 2007. He talked to ANHA agency about his arrest at the time, and also talked about the Turkish state’s arrest of his relatives, including his cousin (Lamia) who was arrested 27 years ago and is still detained in Turkish prisons, Rashid said: “We see the continued pressure of the Turkish state fascism and its brutal practices against the Kurdish people, we want peace for all peoples and for the leader Abdullah Ocalan, as many of the detainees in prisons have gone on hunger strike and are subjected to a lot of injustice. And their continued stay in prison. "

"We were searched several times in violation of prison regulations, and the uprisings took place in many prisons during that period," Rashid added.

Rashid noted, "The struggler, Leyla Guven, resisted in the strike campaign and did not submit to all the methods of the fascist Turkish state, the Turkish authorities fear from Leyal Guven personality and her human freedom, so she had been arrested.

At the conclusion of his speech, Rashid called: "The international community to put pressure Turkey to change its policy towards political detainees and to exercise a humanitarian role towards them."

As for Amal Mohammad, the sister of the detainee Sfakan Jaya, she said: “My brother Sfakan was arrested in June 2012 on a political charge, and he was subjected to a lot of violence and injustice within Turkish prisons. The practices of the Turkish authorities in prisons are contrary to humanity and international laws. "

Amal continued: “My brother Sfakan was a patriot who did not accept injustice and persecution. When he was arrested, he was sentenced to 36 years in prison, and they wanted with these provisions to eliminate humanity and human rights. This is to break the injustice within Turkish prisons, expose fascist Turkish violations to the world and hold Erdogan accountable for all his crimes.

The brother of the detainee Gîvara, Cigerxwîn Elîko, from the Baadino village, said: “My brother Gîvara is three years younger than me. He joined the political struggle in 1999, and for more than eight years he has been detained in Mardin prison by the Turkish authorities. He was sentenced. My grandfather visited my brother several times in 2015, but the meeting took place from behind the insulating glass. My brother was arrested because of his thoughts on the Kurdish issue, and he did not commit a crime against anyone.

In the conclusion of his speech, Elîko called on, "the international community to pressure the Turkish state to give all political detainees their right, so the goal of the strike is to implement their demands and their rights deprived of them, and the fascist Turkish state isolates the leader from the people just because he demanded the right of his people and defended his cause."
