In a letter addressed to President Hassan Rouhani, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said: "All developments, positions and news published in various media outlets around the world infer that a new destructive war was planned in the Middle East and the Gulf."

He added, "All officials must prevent the outbreak of war by taking necessary and urgent measures, and I expect you, as President of the Islamic Republic, to make every effort in this direction, to prevent the outbreak of war."

Ahmadinejad concluded his message, stressing that " Doublessly, the countries of the region will be grateful to the officials who, with their intelligence and sense of responsibility, will prevent the material and spiritual harm that could happen because of wars."

Tensions have escalated between Iran and the United States of America, especially before the anniversary of the killing of the Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, as media outlets monitored the arrival of American military build-ups to the Middle East, amid mutual threats between Washington and Tehran officials.
