Hunger strikers' families call to increase struggle to end isolation

Mohammed Mesto, the brother of the detainee Hussein Horrik Mesto called for more popular support to resist the hunger strikers in Turkish prisons who are calling for ending the strict isolation imposed on the leader Abdullah Ocalan, and ceasing all Turkish crimes against political prisoners.

With an international conspiracy, international powers led by the United States of America, the European Union, Israel, Russia and African countries captured the leader Abdullah Ocalan on February 15, 1999, and handed him over to Turkey to impose strict isolation on him and prevent the lawyers and his family from meeting him.

Despite the international reports issued by the Committee against Torture regarding the conditions contrary to international laws imposed by Turkey in Imrali detention center, the Turkish state continues imposing isolation with international blessing.

To protest the isolation and the Turkish policies against the detainees, political detainees from the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and the Kurdistan Women Freedom Party began a hunger strike campaign since November 27^th of last year.

Among them is the striker Hussein Horrik Mesto from Kurzeleh village in Bulbul district in the occupied Afrin canton, who was arrested in 1997 by the Turkish authorities, and the court made a decision against him for life imprisonment, and is now in prison in the Turkish city of Izmir.

In this context, Mohammed Mesto, the brother of detainee Hussein Horrik Mesto said: "What the Turkish authorities are doing against the leader Ocalan and the political prisoners who are on hunger strike is immoral, inhuman and contrary to international laws."

"The will of hunger strikers is strong, and they will not give up until the isolation on our leader is lifted," Mohammed affirmed.

Mohammed pointed to the interruption of contact with his detained brother: "My brother Hussein was arrested in 1997 and transferred at that time to several prisons in Turkey, and now he is in a prison in the Turkish city of Izmir, and we used to talk by phone once a month, but for some time we did not hear his voice and he did not speak with us."

Mohammed Mesto also appealed to human rights organizations and international organizations to put an end to "the practices and violations of the Turkish state against the leader Abdullah Ocalan in Imrali prison, to lift the isolation, and to release political prisoners."

Mohammed Mesto called on the Kurdish people to support the hunger strikers in the Turkish prisons, organize themselves and their activities to lift the isolation and liberate the leader Ocalan, in addition to standing against Turkish fascism."
