"

'Women journalists face great tyranny'

Shanha Faeq noted that female journalists are subjected to injustice and violence, and said: "In the Soran region, the journalist Sousak Bale stayed in the investigation center of the Asayish for 24 hours, and they took her phone, and until now the phone is still in the investigation center, female journalists are subjected to great tyranny."

Shaneh Faeq touched on the conditions in which female journalists work, noting that they are subjected to sexual harassment in their workplaces, and at a time when the Internal Security Forces must investigate the matter, but they torture them, and she said these practices are denounced and decried.

'122 journalists committed crimes against humanity during the year ′

Shaneh Faeq explained that the digital statistics during 2019 indicate that women journalists are exposed to violence, and she said that the number is greater than what was announced in the statistics, because she only spoke about 6 female journalists, according to the same source, during 10 months of 2020, 144 humanitarian crimes were committed, including 122 journalists. The work of 72 journalists was intercepted, and without any legal decision, 37 journalists were suspended from work.

Journalist Shane Faik explained that if the violations that took place during the past two months were added to the statistics, the number would double, and she continued by saying: “During the past two months, rubber bullets and tear gas have been used against journalists, and the Internal Security Forces have also used violence against them. Many of them were arrested and interrogated several times. "

'Journalists who are reporting facts are being targeted'

Degla Ahmed, a journalist working in northern and eastern Syria, indicated that in occupied and authoritarian countries, journalists are targeted. She said: “When a journalist works to uncover facts, he is targeted, so journalists who monitor the facts are constantly exposed to violence and persecution.”

In her speech, Degla Ahmed touched on the crimes committed against journalists in Bakur Kurdistan and Başûr Kurdistan, and said: “Journalists are targeted, media institutions are closed, and journalists are tortured and imprisoned. And the journalists who were monitoring the events were targeted by the authorities and arrested, and the authorities of Başûr Kurdistan closed a number of media institutions as well, and arrested the journalists who prepared news about the two people who were thrown from the helicopters, as they are still in prison, and we have no information about their fate."

We are the voice of truth

Degla indicated that the Turkish occupation state targets journalists in the regions of northern and eastern Syria who expose crimes against humanity, the suffering and tragedies of civilians, and reveal the reality of the dirty war of the Turkish occupation.

Degla noted the martyrdom of journalists Dilîşan, Rizgar and Hogir, while following the campaign to liberate Deir-ez-Zor from the mercenaries of the Turkish occupation, and added: “Journalists are present in every place where people are subjected to oppression and persecution, and they always stand by the resistance, to be the voice of the people.

The responsibility of the journalist is to show the voice of truth and freedom, in the areas where capitalist modernity dominates, and in the countries that wage a special war, women and youth are specifically targeted, because they represent the driving force of society, and that is why the ruling regimes initially target youth and women, and work to hide their crimes, At the moment, there are dozens of journalists who are languishing in prisons in Turkey and in Southern Kurdistan, under false pretenses.

'We don't know the limits'

At the end of her speech, Degla said that journalists do not recognize any borders. She added: “We journalists work everywhere to expose injustice and oppression. Therefore, we are facing the ruling patriarchal mentality system, but they must know that journalists do not know the limits, and if they are attacked in Southern Kurdistan, we will be the voice of those in northern Kurdistan, northern and eastern Syria. We will also be the voice of the people. We will be their voice in the four parts of Kurdistan, and we will expose the attacks of the Turkish occupation state.

'They seek to force the surrender of free media'

Safiye Alagaş said that arresting journalists is not a new practice. “The oppression and persecution of journalists is not a new thing. Journalists have always been exposed to this injustice, as every new regime brings together a group of journalists around it, and it works to establish media institutions.

The government of the Justice and Development Party practiced this method very extensively, and worked to establish its media network, and it can be said that it controlled all media centers and institutions, as for the institutions that remained outside the AKP regime, they became the target of material punishment and means of intimidation, as it proceeded to close many the media that violate its approach. "

She also touched on the legacy of the free media, and said about that: “The legacy of the free media was established in commitment to the slogan of resistance, struggle and steadfastness, and by Kurdish journalists in particular. In the recent period, the inheritance that refused surrender and submissiveness has been subjected to a lot of violence, challenges and pressures, as journalists are arrested and imprisoned, and unfair and severe sentences are issued against them, and the Turkish state, through the aforementioned methods of oppression and persecution, seeks to impose surrender on the free media

'Journalism is a responsibility towards the people'

Safiye Alagaş referred to the incident of the arrest of 4 journalists by the Turkish occupation authorities, against the background of their exposure of the Turkish state's throwing of two people from a helicopter, and said in this regard: “The Turkish state tells us clearly and frankly, if you do not abide by our orders, and if you expose our crimes to the people, we will arrest you, imprison you, and deprive you of your press rights, and we will not allow you to live in this country. "

She said that she is committed to the free media approach, and that she will continue her journalistic work on this approach, noting that journalism is an emotional responsibility, and she ended her speech by saying: “Journalism is a responsibility towards the people, more than a business and a profession.”
