​​​​​​​ Jîn Association: aggressive sentence against Guven targets all leading Kurdish women

This came in a statement the Jîn Women's Association, which reads:

“We, in the Jîn, express our deep regret over the court’s ruling against the deputy in the Turkish Parliament and the co-chair of the Democratic Society Conference, Mrs. Lailla Guven, by sentencing her to 22 years and 3 months In prison. Turkish police officers raided Ms. Leyla Guven's house in the city of Diyarbakir (Amed), and took her for checks before transferring her to prison.

On the other hand, we consider this unjust and illegal rule, and even an aggressive decision that targets all the leading Kurdish women represented in the person of Mrs. Guven, and thus targets all the Kurdish people who struggle tirelessly for freedom and basic rights to enjoy a decent and honorable life.

Therefore, we in the Association reiterate our diligence once again to defend the rights of women who are hungry for freedom, and we emphasize our support for Mrs. Guven. On the other hand, we call on concerned international organizations with human and women's rights not to stand idly by in the face of these grave violations of human and women's rights, to play their assigned role in accordance with the international treaties and conventions on human and women's rights, and to abandon the policy of double standards in this regard ".
