Sources confirmed to al-Diyar newspaper that, last month, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent the Turkish intelligence chief, Hakan Fidan, to Israel secretly, presenting two main issues for returning “water to the streams” of relations between the two countries.

According to the sources, the first issue is the Turkish companies' obtaining the privatization of Haifa Port, and the second is the issue of its gas fields.

The Turkish and Israeli sides discussed the completion of discussions on pumping Israeli gas to Europe via Turkey.

These two files, according to the sources, are witnessing steady progress between the two sides, as Israel is working to strengthen its power cards to besiege Lebanon, invading Lebanon, and isolate it through side agreements with its "neighbors".

In this context, the diplomatic community confirmed that the understanding with the Turks, the completion of the oil pipeline between Gaza and Israel, and the understandings that will be reached between the two parties regarding the gas fields, will lead to weakening the Lebanese negotiating position on the maritime borders.

The newspaper emphasized that there is a network of economic, security and political relations that has become part of the wider network of regional interests linking Israel, Egypt, Jordan, the Gulf states, Greece and Cyprus, in which Hamas and the Palestinian Authority will become important partners.

Accordingly, these developments will leave Lebanon alone and vulnerable to American and Israeli blackmail, and this may explain the stopping of negotiations on the Israeli side, pending the completion of the invading cordon around Lebanon.
