Turkey cuts down Dohuk trees amid Kurdistan Democratic Party silence

A source from the Zakho district of Dohuk Governorate in southern Kurdistan indicated that the Turkish occupation army cuts down forest trees in the area, and sells them in Turkey, and another source noted that the Turkish army sells trees to the residents of the area.

A private source told ROJNEWS from Zakho district that the Turkish occupation army, since mid-June this year, has been cutting down forest trees.

The same source stated that the Turkish occupation army cuts trees in the village of Kashani and the areas surrounding Heftanin, which are known as forestry forests, then transported it to Turkey in cooperation with a mercenary called Jaafar, known as “Jafo”.

He noted that the villages in which the Turkish occupation army cut down trees are the villages of “Darya Dautiya, Kashani, Bas Agha, Kani Kizah, Bischer Agha Plain, Al-Enish, Sharan Shah, Christian villages, Khantur and Haftaneen districts.”

In a related context, local sources from the village of “Kashani” located north of “Batufa” district in the district of Zakho in the Dohuk governorate revealed that the Turkish occupation army stationed on the outskirts of the village was cutting forest trees and selling them to the people of the region, in a repetition of the crime scene in Afrin, which has been occupied since March, 2018.

The same sources added that the residents of "Kashani" village have been forcibly displaced from the village since the summer of this year, as a result of the Turkish bombardment, which led to great physical losses on the properties and farms of citizens.

The Turkish occupation army has launched intense ground, air and artillery attacks on the border areas in southern Kurdistan since June, causing human and physical losses.
