On Monday, the policeman will appear in front of his country’s district, in a court in the southern city of Mu’nis, for shooting and killing a two-year-old Kurdish girl.

The child Mawada, whose parents left Iraq in 2015, suffered a head wound that led to her death in May 2018, when a policeman opened fire on a pickup truck being driven by smugglers via Belgium to transport migrants to Britain.

The policeman, who is facing charges of manslaughter, said in his testimony that he had intended to shoot at one of the wheels of the vehicle during a chase, but his car veered significantly from its lane, and the bullet did not hit its target, and he explained that he fired to force the vehicle whose driver was trying to flee to stop.

He pointed out that he felt "very exhausted" when he discovered that the child Mawda had suffered a fatal injury to her head, while she was crouching with her parents behind the chair of a truck driver carrying illegal immigrants from Belgium to Britain.

The suspected truck driver and human smuggler, two Kurds from Başûr Kurdistan, will appear in court alongside the policeman, and after the court hearings are over, the court will raise the hearings to consider the case before issuing the ruling.

The policeman faces a 5-year prison sentence if convicted of manslaughter, and the two Kurdish defendants are facing dangerous driving charges that exacerbate the severity of death.

It is noteworthy that the Kurdistan region of Başûr is witnessing a migration movement towards the country of expatriation due to the poor economic conditions that it is experiencing and the government's mismanagement of the economic crisis in the country.
