Lavrov added in his speech during a meeting with the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Syria Geir Pedersen: "We believe that despite the objective difficulties, especially the Corona virus epidemic, the Syrian settlement process is going ahead. We also see an additional necessity to intensify efforts to reach a political settlement, and we see the steps that you are taking to quickly resume the work of the Constitutional Committee. We hope that the plans that we agreed upon with the Syrian parties, including Damascus will be implemented."

He added that the situation has stabilized in a large part of the Syrian territory, but hotbeds of terrorism still exist in some areas and the battle against them continues.
