Hundreds of men demonstrate against violence against women

As part of the series of activities and preparations held to combat violence against women, hundreds of men in Aleppo demonstrated chanting the slogans "There is no life without women, women are free life."

The demonstrators carried a number of banners that read, "No to genocide and occupation ... We will protect women and life. Shattering an imperial regime is breaking down restrictions imposed on women, no violence against women."

The demonstration began in front of the meeting hall located in the western section of the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, and toured a number of neighborhood streets to stop at the Seven Martyrs Square, which is located in the eastern section of the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood.

After standing for a minute of silence, two speeches were delivered by the member of the Syrian Democratic Council Presidency Council, Mari Al-Shibli, and the co-chair of the Ashrafieh neighborhood council, Walat Mamou.

The words emphasized that the only way to liberate society "is to liberate women who are considered the icon of the solution and the vanguard of the July 19 revolution."

She also indicated that "the time has come to abandon the shameful customs and traditions that placed women within the lower classes," and demanded "to raise their status again and restore their historical position."
