The Russian Federation Council "Duma" unanimously approved a resolution giving Russian President Putin the right to send Russian troops to Karabakh from November 10, as well as the necessary weapons and military equipment.

The approval to send Russian forces came after the joint statement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, mediated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, on November 9, 2020, for a ceasefire in Karabakh.

Earlier, the head of the Constitutional Committee of the State Duma, Andrei Klichas, said that the president should seek permission from the upper house of parliament for a period of five years for Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh, given that their stationing there would be "for a long period".
