Ahmed said in a tweet posted on her Twitter account: "We extend our sincere thanks and respect to Mrs. Anne Linde, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, who clearly demanded Turkey to withdraw from Syria."

Ilham indicated that the Swedish Minister "expressed unconditional support for the residents of north and east Syria. It is a great position for a strong woman and an active human rights defender."

On Tuesday, the Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs Anne Linde reiterated the European Union's calls for Turkey to withdraw its forces from north-east Syria.

Linde said next to her Turkish counterpart Mevlut Çavuşoglu: "The European Union's strong position is still the same. We still urge Turkey to withdraw."
