YPJ commander: Our people fought occupation, rejection its presence

YPJ Commander in the Euphrates region Rossel Mahmoud said that" Turkish occupation targets civilians by occupying their area and forced them to displace, stressing the people resisted it and rejection its presence.

On 9 October, 2019, Turkey and its gangs occupied GIRÊ SPî /Tel-Abyad and Serêkaniyê/ Ras al-Ain, forcing large number of the indigenous residents to flee from their homes, as well as to martyrdom hundreds of civilians by aggressive Turkish attacks.

The area enjoyed with stability and security, but has been beset chaos and violence since its occupation, where horrible crimes have been committed such as stealing civilians' properties, killing, abduction, and demanding ransom to release kidnapped people.

This is in addition to Turkey's policy of Turkification and demographic change in the region, which indicates Turkey's intentions to occupy these Syrian areas and annex them to its lands.

And said that "they have formed forces to protect the borders in conjunction with the International Coalition, "but Erdogan did not abide by that and began to launch brutal attacks with his mercenaries."

YPJ Commander indicated that after the American withdrawal from the region, they learned that the threats would turn into attacks, because the Ottoman plan is clear throughout history and Erdogan is seeking to restore the Ottoman state, but what he could not do is undermine the will of the people who resisted alongside the Syrian Democratic Forces in the face of the attacks.

"The Turkish state directly targeted civilians, which prompted them to displace, but our people who resisted the occupation are still rejecting all forms of occupation and fighting it," Russel Mahmoud added.

She explained that their primary duty is to protect the land and the people, and that the Turkish state will not be able to continue its attacks as before.

She also confirmed that the Turkish occupation will not be able to thwart the democratic nation and co-existence project in the region, and said at the conclusion of her speech, "We have been resisting for a year in confronting the occupation and we were able to stop its attacks, and we will continue the resistance until the last breath."
