The Supreme Defense Council discussed the issue of goods and materials in warehouses at ports and the airport, especially the dangerous ones which must be destroyed or disposed of in accordance with the laws and regulations in force, in order to avoid any catastrophic accidents that may occur as a result of their storage.

At the beginning of the Supreme Defense Council meeting, President Michel Aoun greeted the army, civil defense and the fire brigade for the tremendous efforts they made today to besiege and extinguish the fire.

He said: "It is no longer acceptable to make mistakes of any kind that lead to such a fire, especially after the disaster caused by the first fire."

Aoun added: "Today's fire may be an intentional act of sabotage or the result of a technical error, ignorance or negligence, and in all cases the cause must be known as soon as possible and the perpetrators held accountable."

The firefighting teams were able to control the fire, which broke out inside a warehouse containing oil deposits and tires at around one o'clock this afternoon.

In another context, a French presidential source declared: "We are closely following the efforts to form a new government in Lebanon," explaining that "the history of the international conference on Lebanon in October is linked to the formation of a Lebanese government."

The source said: "Sanctions against Lebanese officials are not excluded and will not start if there is progress to form the government." It explained that "the media information about the cancellation of French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Lebanon in December is incorrect."
