The President of the United Nations Security Council, Indonesia's delegate to the United Nations, Dian Trianshah Dajani, announced on Tuesday that there is no consensus among the members of the Council regarding the U.S. request to resume sanctions against Iran, and therefore no action can be taken against this request.

He said: "I have received letters from a large number of member states. It is clear to me that there is one member who has one position on this issue, while a large number of member states have different views. In my opinion, there is no consensus in the council; therefore, the president cannot take more action."

He also stressed that it would not be possible to continue Washington's request to activate Snapback against Iran.

Last Friday, the resigned U.S. envoy to Iran, Brian Hook, confirmed that Washington does not need permission from anyone to activate Iran's sanctions, and said: "We do not care about any opposition to the imposition of sanctions."
