Armed groups affiliated with the Government of National Accord fired, on Thursday night, indiscriminate bullets at peaceful demonstrators in the city of Zawiya, west of the capital, Tripoli, to protest against the deterioration of their living conditions and the low public services in the country.

Activists said that “gunmen affiliated with the First Secret Militia” in the city of Zawiya led by “Muhammad Bahron,” nicknamed “The Fugitive”, shot to disperse protesters angry at the Government of National Accord (GNA), who came out to denounce the suspension of public services to the people, especially the electricity crisis and delayed salaries, as well as insecurity due to The spread of mercenaries, and they raised slogans calling for the expulsion of mercenaries and the resignation of the head of the GNA, Fayez al-Sarraj.

The city of Zawiya has so far been witnessing a state of tension, after protesters blocked roads and set fire to tires, denouncing their starvation and demanding their right to receive salaries and the provision of necessary facilities, as well as changing local officials in the city.

These demonstrations reflect the aggravation of the living and economic conditions in this oil-rich country, where many Libyans hold the reconciliation government responsible for the deterioration of their living conditions, the deterioration of their daily lives and the exacerbation of corruption, due to their preoccupation with defending their survival, and the armed groups' control of their joints and their control over state institutions.
