Activist: Turkey tops list of violating women's rights countries

Violent crimes against women recorded a worrying escalation in Turkey during the period of the ruling Justice and Development Party, as it tries to eradicate the identity of a free woman who has fought and resisted, suppressing it by all means, especially Kurdish women amid the world silence regarding Turkey's violations.

Turkish authorities pursue arbitrary and repressive policies of  arrests, as the list of kidnapped and detained expands to include thousands of political activists, many of whom are still unaccounted for to this day.

On June 4, the Turkish authorities arrested the co-chair of the KCD, the representative of the  Colemêrg People's Democratic Party, Laila Guven, after the parliamentary membership was withdrawn, and then released after a loud reaction by the Kurdish people.

Violations against human rights
On the arbitrary policy of the Turkish authorities against women activists, policies and human rights within Turkey, the civil activist and member of the Syrian Women Council in North and East Syria, Ster Qasim, said that after the Justice and Development Party came to power, we noted that there are many human rights violations happened. "

Qasim noted that Turkey presents itself as a democratic country. "But the actions it takes and the violations followed by it contradict what it claims. We have noticed in the recent period many arrests and the isolation of politicians and jurists, even in parliaments, who are supposed to enjoy immunity."

Qasim explained that the Turkish authorities' efforts to remove mayors and parliamentarians from their work under false pretexts, the last of which is the co-chair of the People's Democratic Party, Guven and other members of Parliament, on the pretext of their links with the opposition parties, contrary to human rights, freedom of parliamentary action, freedom of expression and thought. 

She added, "These violations place Turkey at the forefront of countries in the field of human rights violations by the testimony of international and human rights organizations in various countries of the world. It not only persecutes its people, but also neighboring countries, through what is going on in northeastern Syria and Libya."

Women in decision-making positions threaten its dictatorship

Qasim indicated that the Justice and Development Party pursues the extremist ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood, so the presence of women in decision-making positions in the government, parliament and political parties is "a danger to this thought, as Turkey sees the presence of women in decision-making as a threat to its dictatorship."

She added, "The largest percentage of women in parliaments is in Turkey, who are Kurdish politicians, who have established themselves in the last elections, have a popular base, and won by 13%, so Turkey fears this number by destroying the authoritarian dictatorship mentality that follows it, and paving the way for the spread of the democrat thought. "

Turkey fights all aspects of women's thought

Qasim considered that women must be present in the decision-making that pertains to their country, and it is not permissible to exclude them. This is what Turkey sees as a threat to the male mentality "because the concepts of society with the mobility of women and with their struggles change towards women's rights, so Turkey fights the thought of women."

At the end of her speech, civil activist and member of the Syrian Women Council in North and East Syria, Qasim, called on women to struggle to stand firm in their positions, and that there must be cooperation and coordination between all women throughout the world of women's organizations and activists to identify and reduce women's problems.
