Earthquake hits Bingol in northern Kurdistan, Bakûr

Today, Sunday, Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management stated that a 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck the state of Bingol, "Northern Kurdistan", Bakûr.

The DEM stated that the earthquake was monitored at 17:24 local time in Karlovov region in Bingol state, noting that the tremors were felt by the people of the neighboring state.

Meanwhile, Turkish Environment Minister Murat Corum announced the dispatch of ambulance teams to the area, stressing that the authorities are closely monitoring the conditions there.

In turn, the European Mediterranean Center for Seismology said that the earthquake's strength in eastern Turkey reached 5.9 degrees, indicating that its source is located at a depth of 5 kilometers.
