Turkish occupation of agricultural lands deepens economic crisis

The Turkish state and its mercenaries occupy more than 50 thousand dunums of agricultural land in the countryside of Tel Tamr district, as well as set fire to more than 20 thousand dunums which inflicted vast damage to the economy of the region.

The areas of al-Jazeera region in northern and eastern Syria are distinguished by their dependence on summer and winter agriculture as the most important economic source for the region and the rest of the Syrian regions.

As the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries launched their attacks on the northern and eastern regions of Syria, occupied the cities of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî and arrived at the outskirts of Tel Tamr and Zerkan, they occupied large areas of agricultural lands owned by the people.

The occupation of 50 thousand dunums of agricultural lands in Tel Tamr countryside

According to the Administrator of the Economy Committee of Tel Tamr District Council, Deldar Youssef, the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries occupied more than 50 thousand dunums of agricultural land in the countryside of the Tel Tamr district alone.

The Turkish occupation of the agricultural lands and preventing the farmers and families from cultivating the agricultural fields has greatly affected the livelihood of the people and has also harmed the region's economy in general, which relies mainly on agriculture.

Set fire to 20 thousand dunums

The crimes of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries were not limited to occupying the agricultural lands and preventing the people from cultivating them, as they set fire to the agricultural fields planted with wheat and barley in the countryside of Tel Tamr.

Deldar Youssef emphasized that the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries set fire to about 20 thousand dunums of the agricultural lands in the two districts of Tel Tamr and Zerkan, which belong to the people.

The occupation also prevented the people and the firefighting brigades from interfering and extinguishing the fire by firing live bullets at anyone approaching the agricultural lands.

Thieving and sending agricultural crops to the Turkish lands

Deldar Youssef also stressed that the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries intentionally stole and loot the agricultural crops belonging to the people of the region, and they supply them to inside the Turkish territories on the pretext that there are no receipt and purchase centers.

The Administrator of the Economy Committee of Tel Tamr District Council, Deldar Youssef, pointed out that the series of crimes committed by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, which primarily target the people's livelihood and source of livelihood, negatively affects the lives of the people and the overall economic situation in the region.
