Tomorrow, Sunday, 19 April, 2020 marks Easter, which is celebrated by the Assyrian, Chaldean and Syriac people according to the Eastern calendar.

On this occasion, the Executive Committee of the Syriac Union Party issued a written statement in which it congratulated the Syriac, Assyrian and Chaldean people.

In its statement, the Party mentioned that "the meanings of this holiday give us strength and hope to continue the struggle and sacrifice in order to achieve the goals, consolidate human values in our society, and save our people from their reality and from all the persecutions and extermination inflicted to them."

The statement added: "We lived in Syria within great transformations, dangerous and bloody events and challenges by many terrorist and obscurant powers that aimed to annihilate us, and our people paid a heavy price for that just like the rest of the Syrian components, so we see today that it is necessary to resort to the policy of forgiveness and building trust procedures among all the Syrian democratic parties in preparation for achieving the desired peace; peace that becomes victory and property for all, peace that gives each claimant their right, and peace based on a consensual democratic constitution among all the Syrian political, national and religious components so as to ensure the rights and demands of everybody depending on the relevant international resolutions and international human rights' laws."

The statement also thanked on this occasion all the institutions concerned in combating the spread of the Corona virus, and singled out those working within the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, which managed to protect the region through its preventive measures.

It also appealed to the international community, governments, organizations and institutions for "the need to provide the necessary support for the development of the health sector which suffers greatly in light of what we have lived and are living; wars, challenges and siege on our regions."
