Turkey records highest number of Corona casualties in Middle East

The number of COVID- 19 cases in the country has risen to 82,329, making it the highest in the Middle East, surpassing Iran for the first time, Turkish Health Minister Fakhreddin Qoja said Saturday.

Turkey recorded an increase of 3,783 confirmed cases within 24 hours, also bringing the total number of cases close to China's one where the disease had appeared.

Qoja said 121 injured people died in that period, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 1,890.

To date, 1,822 patients have recovered, with 40,520 tests conducted in 24 hours.

With this new figure, Turkey has outnumbered the number of casualties in Iran and led the affected countries in the Middle East.

On Saturday, Iranian health authorities announced 73 new deaths from the new Coronavirus (COVED-19) virus in the past 24 hours, reflecting a drop from yesterday's rates.

The Iranian Ministry of Health confirmed that the death toll from the epidemic reached 5,031, while the total number of infections during the last day rose by 1,374 new cases to 80,868.
