Abdi said in a tweet on Twitter, "The international initiative led by the President Emmanuel Macron to support the United Nations' call for a global ceasefire so the world can focus on the coronavirus epidemic is a good step and a humanitarian initiative that requires all forces to support it to save the world and build a better future."

The French President Emmanuel Macron said earlier that he had got the approval from three of the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council to support the United Nations' call for a ceasefire around the world so that humanity could focus on tackling the coronavirus.

The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for a global truce on March 23, noting the collapse of the health system in war-ravaged countries and the targeting of the remaining medical personnel in combat operations.

Macron said that the Chinese President Xi Jinping, US President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson assured him all of their support for Guterres' invitation.

The French president said he hoped to obtain the approval of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the coming hours.

He added in statements to International France Radio: "I spoke to him at the beginning of this initiative. I have not spoken to him since I have firm assurances from other leaders, and I will do so in the next few hours."
