The number of pupils at Gire Spi school (prefabricated rooms) after it was opened by the camp administration on January 9th. it was attended by nearly 400 displaced students at the camp,  and it was under the supervision of eight teachers from the camp, who initiated their voluntary education

Because of the lack of equipment and furniture at the school, majority of pupils stand on their feet during school hours, and  as well as lack of stationery and heating. The number of pupils has begun to decrease, with only about half of the number of the pupils attending school.

In this regard, Ghazi Al-Mussa, a teacher says that the number of classrooms allocated to the school is only 4. It  is not able to accommodate more than 200 students. These rooms are mainly administrative rooms for the camp staff. He pointed out that they were asked to evacuate one room  for the administration offices.

"The school currently lacks in the most basics of tablets, books ,stationery and heating. Some students bring with them some notebooks that they brought with them while they were being displaced from their homes. The majority of students do not have pens or notebooks," al-Mussa said.

Ghazi al-Mussa said he appealed to children's rights organizations to support the school so that the forcibly displaced from their homes in Gire Spi and rural areas can complete their education and make up for what they have missed in the past three months.

Currently, only seats provided by  Ain Issa education committee and panels without pens are available for writing.

More than 65,000 people were displaced by the Turkish occupation after occupying Gire Spi canton and its countryside on 9 October last year, and nearly 1,300 people went to Gire Spi camp in the northern countryside of Raqqa city near the village of Tel Al-Saman.
