The Syrian Democratic Council issued a statement to the public opinion on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the liberation of the city of Kobani from ISIS mercenaries.

The Syrian Democratic Council, in its statement, called on the international community, in particular the International Coalition forces led by the United States, and the Russian forces operating in Syria are responsible for deterring Turkish threats and forcing them to leave all the occupied Syrian territories.

The text of the statement came:

Today marks the fifth anniversary of the resistance of Kobani, the defeat of ISIS, which is supported by the Turkish state, and its pursuit and elimination in the battles of Al-Baghouz, and the ongoing effort to get the Syrian homeland out of its crisis that it has been suffering since nine years ago, and to save our people who suffer from hunger, deprivation, detention and displacement, and some dear parts of our country are still are still under the yoke of occupation.

Kobani, which has become a milestone in the history of liberation and the elimination of terrorism, has blended the blood of the sons and daughters of our people in the People's Protection Units, Women’s Protection Units, and forces from the sons of Syria in order to save Syria. They faced terrorism that was overshadowing and controlling large areas of land and minds in Syria and Iraq.

While there was no regional or international force that could stop the expansion of this organization, as ISIS did not only lie in the flow of the international jihadist human reservoir, but was also receiving direct support from the Turkish occupation, its vital artery, with the aim of destroying Syria and eliminating any democratic project that fulfills the legitimate aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom and dignity.

Kobani today is different from Kobani five years ago, where the destruction had affected more than 80% of its facilities and infrastructures. Today, Kobani is a living city glittering with the restoration of its construction with the potentials of its children and the efforts of the Democratic Autonomous Administration, as it enjoys the security and stability that is threatened by the Turkish occupier who does not like the coexistence of the Syrian people and their self-reliance, after Turkey occupied Jarablus, Al-Bab, Afrin, Serekaniye, and Tal Abyad, and after the displacement of our people from their cities and villages, and conducting demographic change operations and resettling strangers to the place of the indigenous population, and flagrantly violating international law, by committing war crimes and crimes against humanity against all components of the region, this aggression did not stop threatening to invade other parts of the dear north of Syria, headed by the resistance Kobani.

We are in the Syrian Democratic Council, as we see that these Turkish threats have not met any international force that deters it in its continuous aggression against our people and its atrocities against it, we stress that it is the responsibility of the international community, and in particular the US-led international coalition forces, and Russian forces operating in Syria to deter Turkish threats and force them out of all the occupied Syrian territories, and affirming that there is no solution in Syria except a political solution that includes all national and political components without exception to end the crisis, and to achieve security, stability and a radical, established democratic transition. We in Syria, we reaffirm our support for our people and their supreme interests in the face of all violations, ambitions and external aggressions. "

The People’s Protection Units have liberated the city of Kobani from ISIS mercenaries in January 26, 2015 after heroic resistance for 134 consecutive days.
