Displaced number increasing in Washokani camp, organizations neglect

The Turkish attack, which is still ongoing on the areas of north and east Syria, resulted in displacing 300,000 civilians, killing 478 and wounding others.

The Autonomous Administration has allocated more than 64 centers to accommodate the displaced, in addition to the Washokani camp located in Tonya town 12 km west of al-Hasakah.

The displaced people in the camp are living a tragic life and difficult conditions in the winter due to the complete absence of international and humanitarian organizations, and the entire responsibility rests with the Autonomous  Administration and the Kurdish Red Crescent Organization.

With the arrival of new batches to the camp, the total number of displaced people increased to 6,200 after it was 5,700 displaced, consisting of 1,100 families residing in 1,100 tents.

The camp’s administrator, Hassen Youssef, made clear that a number of families were still in the reception tents, and registration had stopped due to the slow staff and mechanisms in the camp in the result of the weather factors.

The administrations of the camp and the Kurdish Red Crescent Organization distributed about 1,200 food baskets per month in the camp, and about 100 ambulatory baskets with blankets, mattresses and heaters in the reception tents.

Youssef pointed out that 200 liters of heating material had been distributed to the displaced persons provided by the Autonomous Administration, and the first batch of kerosene will be distributed.

The administrator in Washokani camp Hassen Youssef appealed to the international organizations concerned with human affairs to visit the camp and provide assistance to the displaced.
