Syriac women: Turkish attack  is a previous genocide continuity

The Ottoman Empire committed a horrific massacre against the Armenians between 1914 and 1915 during World War I, that many states have recognized as a genocide against Armenians.

 During the ongoing Turkish offensive on northeastern Syria, which began on October 9^th, the Turkish occupation army and the mercenaries attacked a large number of villages in Khabur area of Tel Tamer district, which houses thousands of Assyrians and Armenians.

 “The Turkish threats have not been new, but since the beginning of time" Elham Metle, the head of the Syriac Women's Union in al-Hasakah said.

Elham noted, “The Turkish occupation has not got any benefit from these attacks because of all the components ' cohesion in the north and east regions of Syria. The existence of the Autonomous Administration was the biggest slap for  the Turkish occupying state.”

She pointed out that Erdogan had wanted to break the will of women in his latest attack, which continued on the border areas. Elham continued, “The biggest proof of this is the assassination of the  General-Secretary of the Future Syria Party, Hevrin Khalaf.”

Elham Metle noted that the Turkish attack had targeted all the  components saying, “The Turkish occupation tried to take control of north and east areas  of Syria, including Tel Tamr, but thanks to the joint forces and the Syriac Military Council, they were able to overcome the attack and thwart it. The occupation targets all the components, not a specific one.”

Rima Yusuf Romance, an administrative member in the Syriac Women's House, condemned the recent attacks by the Turkish state on north and east regions of Syria, committing massacres against the  innocent civilians and children. She said, “The Turkish occupation is carrying out its crimes against all the components not only the Kurdish component because the peoples of northern and eastern Syria are unified.”

Rima Romance noted that the continuous Turkish offensive was a continuation of the crimes of the occupation, and genocide had taken place in previous times, including the massacre of  the Armenians, which had killed 1.5 million civilians,  massacres of Sefo, which targeted Assyrian, Syriac and Chaldean civilians. She continued, “As well as the massacres committed now in  north and east regions of Syria are a continuation of those massacres that took place.”
