Iranian warplane crashed, its pilot killed

Iranian media reported that an Iranian army warplane had crashed and that its pilot had been killed in Sardaba region, after it crashed at the top of the Sablan mountain, in Ardabil governorate, northeastern Iran.

According to the Iranian Radio and Television, Colonel Pilot Rahmani, from the Tabriz Air Force Base of the Iranian army, was killed during the crash of the warplane, which was on an inspection mission after maintenance work.

The Body quoted Ramin Maaboudi, the head of the Red Crescent Association in Ardabil governorate, as saying that the warplane had crashed after hitting one of the peaks of Sablan mountain, and that teams were searching for its wreckage.

Last August, a training airliner crashed in the city of Garmsar, in the central Iranian governorate of Samnan, resulted in the killing 2 of its passengers.
