Inconsistency of interests ... a regime delegation and another Turkish one to Moscow

Today, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with the Syrian regime's Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem, who started a visit to the Russian capital to participate in the work of the Joint Bilateral Governmental Committee.

Russia has called on the regime to show greater flexibility during the political talks, as both the special envoy of the Russian President to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev and the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Verchinin met with the President of the Syrian regime, Bashar al-Assad, during the last period.

Russian officials have called on the Syrian regime to take into account the interests of all ethnic and religious groups.

The meeting between the al-Muallem and Lavrov coincides with the arrival of a Turkish political and military delegation to Moscow for talks with Russian officials.

The Russian-Turkish interests witness a great contradiction on the Syrian and Libyan arenas, where the Idlib region in which the two countries sponsor an agreement to reduce the escalation witnessed violent clashes threatening to collapse understandings between the two parties.

In Libya, tension escalated, after Erdogan said that his country could not remain silent toward Russian-backed mercenaries who were assisting the Libyan National Army led by Khalifa Hafter.

This came after Russia expressed its concern about bringing Turkish soldiers to Libya.

It is also not excluded that a new deal will take place between these parties, as the regime spoke today about the possibility of handing over Ma`rat al-Numan without a fight.

Throughout the crisis in Syria and the region, Turkey was stepping up its threats to Russia, but soon it backed down and made a deal.
