After waving a major battle ... Syrian regime, Russia start an intensified bombing round

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) stated that the regime's warplanes and Russia returned to bombing an area called the De-escalation Thursday morning.

Russian warplanes carried out raids on the town of Ma`arsmarin in the countryside of Ma`rat al-Numan, and helicopters threw explosive barrels on the outskirts of the town of Gergnaz, east of Idlib, as part of the escalating shelling in the area.

Air and ground bombing in general concentered on the eastern countryside of Maarat al-Numan in Idlib Governorate, where Russian aircraft carried out at least 97 air strikes during the past 72 hours, and regime helicopters dropped 146 barrel bombs, while regime warplanes also launched 74 raids, while The regime forces targeted the area with more than 800 shells and missiles.

These bombing operations were accompanied by continued reinforcements by the regime forces to the southern, eastern, and southeastern countryside of Idlib.

Al-Watan newspaper, which is affiliated with the Syrian regime, had quoted field sources as saying that the regime had begun preparing the ground for what it called the major operation in Idlib, and affirmed that it might start at any moment. And regime forces began days ago to bring large military reinforcements to the countryside of Idlib.

 These developments come after the failure of the second round of the so-called Constitutional Committee meetings and the fourteenth round of the Astana meetings.
