Jurists: International bodies should take appropriate decision against perpetrators of ethnic genocide

Human rights activists stressed the importance of holding the " Ethnic Genocide, Demographic Change in N, E Syria Forum”, to uncover the crimes committed against the components of the region, pointing to the need for international bodies to take the appropriate decision against the perpetrators of ethnic genocide.

The activities of the forum held by the Rojava Center for Strategic Studies under the title (Ethnic Genocide and Demographic Change in Northern and Eastern Syria) continue at the Aram Tikran Center for Culture and Art in the town of Rumailan, with the participation of 115 delegates from different regions of north and east Syria, in addition to specialists and academics in the field of human rights, international law, representatives of various civil institutions and political parties.

On the importance of holding this forum, Hawar News Agency held meetings with human rights activists who participated in the forum.

Legal researcher Abdul Rahman Botran said that Turkey had sought to attract opponents since the beginning of the Syrian popular movement in 2011, and worked to change their path in favor of its agendas, taking advantage of the file of displaced Syrians and refugees for its political goals, and participated in international meetings and conferences to disrupt a solution that is not commensurate with its interests.

Botran pointed out that the direct Turkish intervention in Syria took place through the occupation of Jarabulus, Afrin, and Serekaniye in implementation of its colonial ambitions.

On the importance of holding this forum, Botran explained, "The forum is of great importance in terms of revealing the policy of those mercenaries who cooperated with the Turkish occupation, revealing its policies in the region and raising its violations to international organizations and bodies, in order to take the appropriate decision against those who have criminalized the Syrian people."

For his part, lawyer Mohamed Ali Abo pointed out that the proposals presented in this forum were positive, as the lecturers spoke about a series of ethnic genocide and demographic change that took place throughout history by the Ottoman Empire.

Abo pointed out that genocide always takes place, when there is a repressive authoritarian regime that amounts to a collapse, as it implements ethnic genocide and pursues a policy of demographic change against peoples, so that it can rebuild itself again.

At the end of his speech, Abo addressed an appeal that included a message to the world to take legal and humanitarian responsibility for the demographic change and the ethnic genocide that is taking place in northern and eastern Syria.
