Jaafari: Conditions are not suitable for Constitutional Committee in light of Turkey's occupation of Syrian territory

The Syrian regime's representative to the United Nations, Bashar Jaafari, stressed that there are no suitable conditions for the work of the so-called Constitutional Committee, due to the Turkish regime's occupation of Syrian territory, killing and displacing many citizens with the aim of assembling terrorists belonging to Erdogan under what he called safe zone which is considered occupied territory.

"The constitution of Syria and the shaping of its future is the exclusive property of its people," Jaafari said during a Security Council session on Friday evening.

"The Syrian people expected that appropriate conditions would be created to allow the commission to operate in a comfortable atmosphere that would allow its success, but everyone was surprised by what some international and regional bodies have done for the commission's work, especially the Turkish regime that occupied Syrian territory and killed many Syrian citizens." More than 180,000 people aim to assemble Erdogan's terrorists on Syrian territory under the guise of what he calls a “safe zone,” which Syria rejects and considers as occupied territory, and will be treated accordingly in accordance with the principles of international law and the relevant conventions.

"The cause of the crisis is international terrorism, which targeted Syria for political purposes related to changing the geopolitical map in the region. This means that the war on Syria will end when foreign-backed terrorism ends," Jaafari said, stressing that the Syrian people categorically reject the occupation and terrorism practiced by terrorist organizations with multiple designations and loyalties, including “ISIS” and “Jabhat al-Nusra”.
