IS' elements escaped from prison after Russian bombardment

In parallel with the progress made by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in al-Baguz village, the last stronghold of IS' mercenaries in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, east of the Euphrates River, IS' elements have escaped a prison after the Russian bombardment in coordination with Turkey of Idlib prison.

On Thursday morning, the Arab newspapers touched upon SDF's progress in al-Baguz village, the Russian raids on Idlib in coordination with Turkey, and escaping a numbers of IS' elements after targeting the prison there.

Al-Sharq al-Awast: IS is counting its days after surrendering thousands of its elements

On the Syrian issue, al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper touched upon the latest situation in al-Baguz, saying, "Daesh is living its last moments in north and east of Syria. The heavy bombardment which was launched by SDF and the International Coalition forced IS' elements in the last pocket of al-Baguz village to surrender in the last two days, and their number was about 3,000 IS' elements according to the report of the French Press Agency from al-Baguz eastern Syria.

The Syrian Democratic Forces said that IS' elements had launched two counter-attacks in al-Baguz on the forces which have been close to imposing control over the last pocket of IS' organization in eastern Syria, but the organization has made no progress and has been repelled.

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces said in a short message to the journalists that the second attack launched by IS' organization on Wednesday afternoon was much stronger than the first attack.

Al-Sharq al-Awsat: IS' escape after a raid on a prison in Idlib

In the same context, al-Sharq al-Awsat newspaper said, "A number of IS' elements escaped from a prison in Idlib, northwest of Syria, after being exposed to a Russian bombardment, which Moscow said that it was carried out in coordination with Ankara.

The Russian news agency said, "The Russian warplanes carried out on Wednesday an air strike in coordination with Turkey, targeting an arms depot in Idlib governorate under the control of the armed opposition. The agency quoted from the Ministry of Defense that the targeted warehouse belongs to Hayet Tahrir al-Sham, and includes drones which were being planned to be used to attack the base of Hmeymim, west of Syria. Opposing activists published a video showing the prisoners' escape, and they said that among them were IS' elements wo had been arrested by Hayet Tahrir al-Sham.
