'Revolution to not be complete unless women are part of its ignition'

The Kurdistan Democratic Peace Party issued a statement to public opinion in which it congratulated the International Women Day on the 8th of March.

The statement said,

"The world celebrates the World Women's Day on March 8, highlighting the economic, political, social and cultural achievements of women. This day is celebrated to honor women who have played an exceptional role in the history of their countries and communities. It also commemorates the spiritual role of women around the world for preserving women's rights, establishing more equality in the societies between men and women, recalling the unheard voices of many women and making the world a better place for women to live.

Despite the progress of the world in various aspects of life, there are many countries in which women continue to suffer from discrimination and violence practiced against them in various forms as they are excluded from participating in the development of the society and forming the present and future, and they are considered less than men which clearly indicates the imposition of masculine authority and the consideration of women as a mere object subjected to the man and his orders, so the result will be as expected, as those countries are ranked at the top of the list of underdeveloped countries, politically, economically, socially and culturally. Neglecting half of the society and its exclusion from participation in life will only lead to backwardness without any qualitative leap.

From this point of view, it is not an exaggeration to say that the revolution of Rojava is a revolution in the comprehensive sense of the word, in which the two wills have been equal side by side, the will of men and the will of women, in addition to the enthusiasm and boldness of the two sides that do not know the boredom.

The will is not limited in Rojava only, but it includes other geographical spots, especially in Turkey and Bakur Kurdistan. The will of the Kurdish women there has been able to destroy the castles of the Turkish fascist government that has used and continues to use various forms of oppression and tyranny against the Kurds. Perhaps the clearest picture of these is the resistance of the MP Leyla Guven which entered a hunger strike in protest against the isolation imposed on the Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan where she has been on hunger strike for more than three months in a row, and more than 250 others joined the hunger strike.

On the occasion of the International Women's Day, we in the Kurdistan Democratic Peace Party salute all the women who have played an important role in the development of their societies and have managed to prove themselves through the continuous struggle and resistance against everything that would devalue them in life.

In particular, we pay tribute to the women in Rojava, who have become the focus of the world's attention thanks to their sacrifices and their best efforts to promote the society and their democratic project.

We also salute the Women's Protection Units (YPJ) who have become a source of inspiration for other women in the world. We salute the resistance of the struggler Leyla Guven and her comrades. They represent one of the greatest struggles in modern history against the most oppressive dictatorships in the world. And their struggle does not only mean the Kurdish struggle, but also the human struggle against injustice and tyranny, against the supporter of terrorism, Erdogan, who supports the terrorist organizations in public.

We call on all components of north-east of Syria to participate in various events held on this occasion which serves the concepts of freedom, democracy, rights, peaceful co-existence, brotherhood, women's rights.
