Beker Alo: External parties cannot solve Syrian crisis

Russia, Turkey, and Iran continue to hold tripartite meetings that are supposed to solve the Syrian crisis and discuss outstanding issues. There are no solutions on the ground and the crisis is worsening. The efforts to protect the interests of the countries are taken away from the interests of a people exhausted by wars after eight years of war.

The last round of talks was held a few days ago, and took place in Sochi. The discussion focused on the situation in Idlib. The co-chair of the Executive Council of Afrin region Beker Alo said in this context, "All countries like Russia, Turkey and Iran are inside Syria. Russia is supporting the regime to remain in power and is implementing its projects, Turkey is aiming to spread the ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria through its mercenaries, while since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, Iran has been supporting the regime to implement the Shiite crescent project."

He added, "These countries have previous contradictions and will not be able to find a solution to this crisis. The meetings held without the participation of the Syrian people will always fail and will not reach their goals, and as long as they hold meetings without the presence of the Syrians, they will fail and the Syrian crisis will continue."

Alo gave the example of the impossibility of implementing an agreement that does not represent the will of the Syrian people, and that during the failure of the implementation of the Sochi agreement concluded by Erdogan with his counterpart Putin, where the Turks failed to establish a buffer zone.

He explained that Turkey is investing the situation in Idlib ahead of municipalities elections scheduled for late March in Turkey.

Alo concluded, "Turkey is blocking the military operation against Idlib until the end of the elections' process, as it does not want to end Jabhet al-Nusra in Idlib for its survival in Syria because ending Jabhet al-Nusra means ending Turkey's presence in Syria and failing all its projects in Syria. If the war begins in Idlib, it will be a war of existence."
